Boudoir photography is an empowering and unforgettable experience but if it’s your first time, you might be wondering how to prepare. The truth is, there’s no single “right” way to do a boudoir shoot, but there are a few helpful do’s and don’ts that will ensure you feel confident, comfortable, and excited about your session.

Do bring outfits that make you feel confident.
This doesn’t have to mean lingerie. Boudoir can be done in a button-down shirt, cozy sweater, leather jacket, or even a favorite dress. The key is wearing what makes you feel comfortable and beautiful.

Do take care of yourself before your shoot.
Get a good night’s sleep, hydrate, and moisturize your skin. Treat yourself like it’s a self-care day it makes a huge difference in how you feel in front of the camera.

Do communicate your insecurities and preferences.
Everyone has them! I’ll work with you on poses, lighting, and angles to highlight your best features and minimize anything you’d prefer not to focus on.

Do trust the process.
It’s completely normal to feel nervous, but remember, you don’t have to know how to pose. I’ll guide you through every step with professional direction.

Do bring personal items if you’d like.
Jewelry, books, motorcycles, leather jackets, anything that represents your personality can make the session unique to you.

Boudoir is for every body type. You don’t need to lose weight, get a facial, or change anything before your session. You are gorgeous as you are, right now.

Don’t overpack your wardrobe.
A few well-chosen outfits are better than a suitcase full of options. I’ll help you mix and match pieces for variety without the overwhelm.

Don’t forget to relax and have fun.
Boudoir doesn’t have to be stiff or overly serious. Laughing, being playful, and letting go often creates some of the best, most authentic images.

Don’t worry about privacy.
At my Suwanee studio, your photos remain completely confidential unless you decide otherwise. You’ll choose your model release after the session, once you’ve seen the images.
